Summary

  1. 1.

    The reaction between tetrafluoroethane-β -sultone and glacial acetic acid has been studied.

  2. 2.

    A new method for preparing acetates has been developed. It consists of treating an alcohol or phenol with an equimolar mixture of tetrafluoroethane-β -sultone and acetic acid.
