Zusammenfassung
Elektronenmikroskopische Untersuchungen am M.t.t. des Meerschweinchens haben gezeigt, daß dieser Muskel im Aufbau eine gewisse Ähnlichkeit mit ständig in Funktion stehenden Skeletmuskeln (z. B. Zwerchfellmuskulatur) hat. Der im M.t.t. vorherrschende atypische, gewellte, spitz- und rechtwinklige, zum Teil auch kreisförmige Faserverlauf unterscheidet ihn jedoch von allen anderen Skeletmuskeln. Der relativ hohe Gehalt an Glykogen, die Fettablagerungen und die große Mitochondriendichte sprechen für eine relativ hohe Leistung dieses Muskels.
Die Glykogen- und Fettdepots sind wohl als Stoffwechselreserven für den Fall einer besonderen Belastung anzusehen. Aus den Besonderheiten des Faserverlaufs und der Nervenversorgung lassen sich möglicherweise Erklärungen für bereits bekannte Eigenarten des Kontraktionsverlaufs des M.t.t. herleiten.
Der M.t.t. und der M. stapedius unterscheiden sich morphologisch weitgehend voneinander.
