Abstract
Complex carbides have been detected within the combinations: Mo−{Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu}−Al−C as well as W−{Mn, Fe}−Al−C. These carbides are structurally closely related to the K-phases, the parent lattice being similar to the Mn3Al10-type. The K-carbides reveal the well known structural principle of complex carbides inasfar as [T 6 X]-octahedra are linked together by corners. Aluminium is favorable for the formation of K- and η-phases.
