Summary
-
1.
Lignin was obtained from stems, pods, and seed husks of cotton by mechanical grinding. The lignin yields were not uniform: Pods under equal conditions yielded somewhat less lignin, and seed husks ∼50-times less than did the stems of cotton.
-
2.
The lignins of stems and pods differed very little in composition.
-
3.
The content of OCH3-groups in lignins from stems and pods consists of ∼1.15 M per structural element of C9.
