Reaction of acetals and orthoesters with decaborane and diacetonitrile decaborane

Summary

  1. 1.

    Using butyl orthoformate as an example, it was shown that orthoesters are reduced by decaborane to simple esters and acetals.

  2. 2.

    Decaborane and diacetonitrile decaborane reduce acetals to simple ethers.
