Conclusions
-
1.
On nitration with alcoholic HNO3 solution lignins isolated from wood pulp undergo destructive changes leading to the formation of certain quantities of water- and ether-soluble products.
-
2.
The nitration products of the isolated lignins (especially nitrated lignin of mechanical grinding) are similar to the nitrolignins precipitated on treatment of fir-wood pulp according to the method of Kürschner.
-
3.
The nitration by alcoholic HNO3 solution yields products different from the nitrolignins separated after nitration in anhydrous media.
