Abstract
The indandione analog1 synthesized from diphenic anhydride and phenylacetic acid gave by interaction with bromine, sulfuryl chloride and ammonium rhodanide monohalogenated and rhodanated derivatives in very good yields. From its enolacetate1 b with chlorine in CCl4 a dichloro derivative was isolated. IR- and NMR-spectral analysis as well as some chemical transformations showed that in the monoderivatives the methin group of the 7membered diketone ring was substituted, and that the dichloro derivative is an enol acetate addition product, respectively.
