X. Der Einfluss von RNS-Synthese-Hemmern auf die Induktion

Summary

The presence of the inhibitors of RNA synthesis 5-fluorouracil, 5-fluorouridine, 6-azauracil, 8-azaguanine, proflavine, and actinomycin D interferes with thymineless prophage induction. This interference is believed to be a consequence of the inhibition of RNA synthesis, and not of the incorporation of the inhibitors leading to disturbances in information transfer. It is proposed that the substances tested interfere with the production of a toxic metabolite responsible for thymineless death and thymineless induction. Experiments performed with ultraviolet light indicate the interference with induction to be a prevention rather than a reversal of the induction process.
