Abstract

Electron and optical microscopy as well as x-ray structural analysis have been used to investigate the alloy 40KhNYu. The interlamellar distances in cells of discontinuous decomposition are subject to the Gaussian distribution. The dispersity of the structure formed during the development of the discontinuous reaction is much higher in the alloy 40KhNYu than in 45KhN, this being due to the greater chemical driving force and lower interphase energy in 40KhNYu. The process parameters controlling the rate of development of the discontinuous reaction are determined and compared with known data for Ni-Cr alloys. An interpretation of the results is given.
