Abstract
A one-dimensional linearized analysis of a storage-ring laser is developed. The dynamic and equilibrium behavior of the energy spread, bunch length, and correlation are derived analytically through a formalism generally applicable to linear difference equations. The limits on the applicability of the linear approximation are discussed.
