Abstract

The 4-carboxy-2-azetidinones1 a,1 b und1 c react with leadtetraacetate/pyridine to give the 4-acetoxy-1-aryl-2-azetidinones2 a, 2 b and2 c. Hydrogenolysis of2 a yields2 d.
