Abstract
It is shown that the dynamic structure factor of an electron gas can undergo gigantic quantum oscillations similar to those of the sound absorption coefficient by metals in a magnetic field. The de Haas-van Alphen oscillations of the structure factor are considered. The theory is applied to the description of Compton scattering of light at conduction electrons in a magnetic field.
