Vilkovisky-de Witt effective action in quantum field theory in curved spacetime

Abstract

The potentialities of the application of the Vilkovisky-de Witt effective action in quantum field theory in curved spacetime are discussed. A number of examples is given, in which this effective action eliminates problems related to the standard effective action.
