Abstract
The well-known formulas of Hagen-Rubens and Ashkinass-Foote type for the calculation of the spectral and integral emissivity of metals gives, as a rule, values of the optical characteristics that are too low. Taking the relaxation time and the free-electron approximation into account, improved formulas may be obtained for the radiative characteristics of metals in terms of their electrical resistivity.
