Abstract

The character of crystallization and transition into an amorphous state of alloys based on tellurium with the elements Ge, Si, Al, In, Ga indicates the existence of an interrelationship between the internal structure of the fused alloy and the crystalline structure which develops upon solidification. The observed crystallization effects considered together with the peculiarities of metastable phase formation in alloys of other systems indicates the insufficiency of present concepts of the cluster structure of liquids. A new description of the most probable structural state of a liquid will be formulated on the basis of experimental data.
