Effect of moisture on aging of zinc sulfide luminophores

Abstract

Thermoluminescence of zinc sulfide phosphors with light stored during interaction with water vapor is studied. The effect of irradiation by shortwave UV light (λ<300 nm) on the intensity of photoluminescence of such phosphors excited by light at λ=366 nm is also studied, together with the effect of moisture on the rate of decrease of electroluminescence intensity. It is shown that the effect of moisture on aging of zinc sulfide luminophores is caused by interaction with ionic radicals formed on the surface upon dissociation of the water.
