Abstract

The Demianski method of deriving electrovacuum fields is compared with the well-known Ernst algorithm of introducing charge into a vacuum solution. A class of vacuum fields is found for which both methods lead to a single electrovacuum solution. A new electrovacuum solution of general relativity is also obtained by generalizing the Tomimatsu-Sato solution.
