Abstract
In the framework of quantum electrodynamics the vector potential is computed of the electromagnetic field created by a localized wave packet corresponding to a uniformly moving charged particle. It is shown that the field distribution near the particle trajectory depends on mass renormalization due to the interaction with the transverse quantum field.
