Abstract
A variational method is used to calculate the binding energy of the hypertriton. The effects arising from the choice of N-N interaction potential, the form of the trial function, the number of variational parameters, and the choice of coordinate system are discussed. It is shown that if a central Λ-N potential is assumed, the volume integral of the spin-dependent portion of the Λ-N interaction is at most 10.5 MeV·F3.
