Variational estimates in electrostatics. Capacitance of a plane capacitor

Abstract

Simple variational inequalities for the capacitance of a plane capacitor, which demonstrate the effectiveness of the variational approach to problems of electrostatics which are usually explained only quantitatively, can be proven completely rigorously and simply with the variational inequalities.
