Conclusions

Elongation of the methylene chain in molecules of 1,1-diphenylalkenes-1 andα-benzoyl-ω-phenylalkanes does not affect the nature of the lower triplet level or the relative position of the singlet and triplet levels.

An increase in the number of methylene groups leads to a change in the height of the triplet Tππ * level above the ground level in series II molecules, whereas the position of the lower Tππ * level in series I molecules is unaltered.
