Abstract
The paramagnetic resonance spectra induced in two-component alkali tellurite glasses by irradiation by radioactive sources have been studied. It is shown that the absorption in the 1.93–2.05 g-factor region is characteristic of all the glasses in the study regardless of the alkali cation and that the absorption is produced by two types of paramagnetic centers,α andβ. A study of the dependence of the spectral parameters on various factors (composition of the glass, conditions of synthesis, etc.) suggests that theα. center is an oxygen vacancy in the telluriumoxygen polyhedron and that theβ center is an oxygen which is not covalently bonded.
