Abstract
A study is made of the Skyrme model with gauge field, which admits the existence of regular solutions with nontrivial topological charge. It is shown that the solution with unit charge realizes a minimum of the energy of the system and therefore corresponds to a stable particle. A qualitative analysis of the Euler-Lagrange equations is made, approximate solutions to them being found by a variational method for several values of the parameters of the model.
