Electromagnetic wave field with instantaneous charge deceleration

It is shown that electromagnetic wave fields with instantaneous charge deceleration are discontinuous in nature and the Umov-Poynting theorem is satisfied in integral form only for a definite value of the parameter a which governs the charge velocity at the time of the deceleration.
