Abstract
The discharge investigated is initiated by an electron beam with a duration of 10−7 sec under conditions where cascade ionization plays an important role in sustaining the current. The results obtained for the dynamics of the transition from a beam-controlled discharge to the cascade ionization mode are given. Stable discharge regions with a high specific energy input into the gas are identified.
