Abstract
It is shown that in any coupled heteronuclear system, nonstationary perturbation of some nuclei leads, under certain conditions, to nutation oscillations of the components of the magnetizations of the other nuclei. The nature of these nutations is determined by the relaxation parameters of both subsystems and the conditions under which they are excited.
