Abstract
It is shown that the number of branches in the energy spectrum of a multiphoton field in a dispersive medium increases together with the number of photons. The kinetics of an individual quantum cannot be considered independently of the evolution of the field as a whole, even if the interaction between the field and each molecule of the medium is linear. The probabilities of the processes which accompany the transition of a quantum from one branch of the spectrum to another are calculated.
