Soviet Physics Journal Aims and scope

Abstract

A study of structural changes with ageing and recovery in the alloy Al-9 at.% Zn-1 at.% Ag was carried out. It was established that zones whose dimensions are above the critical size, and the plate-like nuclei of the precipitation phase AgZn3 do not undergo recovery but, on the contrary, grow, causing by that a permanent hardness of the alloy. The dimensions of the zones and concentrations of atoms in them were determined, as were also the dimensions, orientations, and parameters of the crystalline lattice of the metastable phase AgZn3.
