High-temperature study of the magnetic susceptibility of iron-manganese alloys

Abstract

Using the Faraday method, the paramagnetic susceptibility of Fe-Mn alloys is studied over very substantial ranges of temperature and concentration (room temperature to 1800°C and 0–80% Mn). The results are interpreted within the framework of the zone (energy-band) model, allowing for the resonance scattering of the collectivized d electrons at the ions of the transition metal.
