Abstract
This paper gives the results of investigating the effect of processes such as direct ionization by electron collision, recombination, and stepwise ionization in N2 on the variation of E/p (E is the electric field strength and p is the gas pressure) in the plasma of a high-current volume discharge. It is shown both experimentally and theoretically that the process of stepwise ionization of molecules cannot be neglected in analyzing the energy of such discharges.
