Utilization of an exposure impulse for exciting the frequency spectrum of structures

Soviet Applied Mechanics Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The proposed method of exciting structures by an explosive impulse is used in practice for obtaining frequency spectra.

  2. 2.

An impulse of a magnitude and action time sufficient for producing the stress intensity in the structure can be obtained with a flat microcharge, provided the stimulant is designed to match the configuration of the vessel.

  3. 3.

The magnitude of the pulse for a charge without tamping can be roughly estimated from formula (1), and the impulse parameters from formula (2).

If the charge is tamped in water, the pulse can be deduced from (7) if we already have a calibrated value Iop for the instances of confinement and charge size used in the excitation.

  4. 4.

The exact parameters of the impulse must be determined with a pressure gauge; this makes it possible to establish the time dependence of the pressure, and to use exact input signal parameters in each test.
