Abstract
A procedure is presented for the evaluation of shearing interferograms obtained from axisymmetric test objects. The procedure applies to interferometers with small amount of shear, and furnishes the density gradient in the case of a compressible flow field. This evaluation method is compared with another technique proposed by Hugenschmidt and Vollrath; for comparison both procedures are applied to the same test object.
