Abstract
The S-parameter, introduced by MacKenzie et al., is now widely used to describe annihilation gamma-ray lineshapes recorded with Ge(Li) spectrometers. This paper discusses four descriptive parameters, their statistical properties and their sensitivity to positron trapping.
