Summary

The aim of the experiment is the measurement of the variation of the ozone content of the mesosphere and upper stratosphere during the night and at sunrise. We have designed and built up a spectrophotometer. This spectrophotometer is made of a Cassegrain's telescope associated with an E.M.R. photomultiplier at the focus. Four interferential filters (2550, 2800, 3050 and 3300 A) placed in front of the photomultiplier on a rotating disc chop the star radiation (2 revolutions per second). The photoelectric current is amplified by a logarithmic amplifier. The analogic information is memorized in four track and hold amplifiers which are explored by the telemetry. The E.M.R. photoelectric high voltage power supply is varied according to the intensity of the source; it is controlled by an external voltage, the order being sent from the ground.
