Reaction of 2-methyl-3,5-heptadiyn-2-ol with glycols

Conclusions

The reaction of 2-methyl-3,5-heptadiyn-2-ol withα-glycols in the presence of alkaline catalysts results in the formation of 1,3-dioxolanes, whileβ-glycols give ethynylvinyl ethers which contain a hydroxyl group in the alkoxy residue.
