Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Whenα-fluoro-β,β,β-trichloroethylbenzene is heated with anhydrous hydrogen fluoride or boron trifluoride, a 1,2 shift of fluorine occurs with the formation ofβ-fluoro-α,β,β-trichloroethylbenzene.

     
  2. 2.

    α-Fluoro-β,β-dichlorostyrene andβ-fluoro-α,β-dichlorostyrene were obtained by dehydrochlorination ofα-fluoro-β,β,β-trichloroethylbenzene andβ-fluoro-α,β,β-trichloroethylbenzene, respectively.
