Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The kinetics of the hydrolysis of cyclic oligomers of polycaproamide was investigated in a broad range of temperatures and H2SO4 concentrations by a spectrophotometric method.

  2. 2.

The effective rate constant of hydrolysis passes through a maximum with increasing acid concentration.

  3. 3.

A mechanism of hydrolysis was proposed.

  4. 4.

The anomalous reactivity of the cyclic dimer of polycaproamide is explained by electrostatic interaction of closely situated amide groups through space.
