Conclusions

  1. 1.

    m-Carbaarsaborane possesses a stronger electron-acceptor character than m-carborane, but a weaker character than m-carbaphosphaborane.

     
  2. 2.

    Cleavage of the C-C bond between the carbaarsaborane nucleus and the carbonyl group occurs in ketones of the m-carbaarsaborane series under the influence of bases.

     
  3. 3.

    m-Carbaarsaborane is capable of being metalated by phenyllithium in ether at the C-H bond with the formation of m-carbaarsaboranyllithium.
