Conclusions
-
1.
The intensities of a number of lines of the symmetric stretching and deformation vibrations of the C-NO2 group of some polynitro- andα-halopolynitroalkanes were measured.
-
2.
Rules for the changes in the intensity as a function of the nature of the substituent were found.
-
3.
An increase in the intensity is mainly due to a decrease in the electron-acceptor capacity of the substituent and in its degree of polarizability.
