Conclusions

1.
Using the Taft method it was shown that the 1-[1,8-dicarbaclosoundecaborane (11)] group is an electron-acceptor grouping, which exhibits only an induction effect (induction constantσ i=0.12; resonance constantσ 0R =0.00).

2.
The opening of the carborane structure to the anion of m-dicarbaundecaborane is postulated when the adduct of 1,8-dicarbaclosoundecaborane (11) with triphenylphosphine is formed, in which connection this grouping exhibits electron-donor properties (σ i=−0.24;σ 0R =−0.15).
