Conclusions
-
1.
The IR spectrum of anhydrous lanthanum acid ethylenediaminetetraacetate, in contrast to the spectra of its hydrates, is similar to the spectra of the crystal hydrates HLnA·xH2O formed by the heavy rare earth elements.
-
2.
Evidently, as a result of the smaller (in comparison with La3+) ionic radius of the heavy REE, the covalent O-H bond in the COOH group is broken, forming acids HLnA, even when the coordinating action of the Ln3+ ions is weakened by the hydrate water.
