Conclusions

  1. 1.

A series of vinylogs of chalcones p-RC6H4(CH=CH)nCOC6H5 (n=2, 3) were synthesized.

  2. 2.

The frequency of the valence vibrations of the C=O bond for vinylogs of a chalcone depends little on the nature of the substituents.

  3. 3.

The position of the maximum and extinction of the absorption in the UV spectra of p-RC6H5·(CH=CH)nCO·C6H5 (n=1, 3) are little changed by the introduction of negative substituents and are linear functions of the number of double bonds.
