Conclusions

Depending on the reaction conditions, when 1,3,5-trichloro-2-pentene, 1,3,7-trichloro-3-heptene and 1,5,5-trichloro-2-hexene are treated with diethylamine the nucleophilic replacement of the allylic chlorine atom by the diethylamino group can be accomplished selectively, without involving the other chlorine-containing groups.

The reaction of 1,3,3,5-tetrachloropentane with diethylamine proceeds with prior dehydrochlorination.
