Conclusions

  1. 1.

2-Aminoadamantane is converted under the conditions of the Dem'yanov reaction to a mixture of 2-adamantanol (85%) and adamantanone (15%).

  2. 2.

The skeletal isomerization of adamantane and the conversion of 2-adamantanol to its 1-isomer were not observed under the reaction conditions.
