Problem of intermediate reaction products of silicon with methyl chloride

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The prior chlorination of silicon leads to a reduction in the start of the reaction of silicon with methyl chloride by ∼300°.

  2. 2.

The reaction of the chlorinated silicon with methyl chloride leads to a loss in the activity of the silicon surface, which is explained by the consumption of the intermediate products that are formed on the silicon surface during chlorination. A second chlorination of the silicon restores the activity.
