The inductive effect and pπ − dπ conjugation in esters of phosphorus acids

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The kinetics of alkaline and neutral aqueous hydrolysis of ethyl esters of substituted alkylphosphonic acids was studied.

  2. 2.

On the basis of a correlation analysis of data on the hydrolysis of phosphonates and phosphinates the contribution of the inductive effect and pπ − dπ conjugation of the ethoxyl group at phosphorus to the free energy of activation was evaluated.
