A study was made of the homopolymerization of p-diethynylbenzene (DEB) and its copolymerization with phenylacetylene (PA).

When DEB is copolymerized with PA on the catalytic system Al(i-C4H9)3-TiCl4, outside the dependence on the starting ratio of the monomers and Al/Ti, the soluble copolymerization products contain polyene segments along with phenylene fragments.
