Conclusions
-
1.
The kinetics of the reaction of polyphenylene with the stable radical 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) was investigated in benzene, toluene, and dioxane.
-
2.
The reaction of polyphenylene with DPPH is second order with respect to DPPH and first order with respect to polyphenylene.
-
3.
A reaction mechanism based on the formation of a donor-acceptor complex of polyphenylene with DPPH and the activating influence of paramagnetic centers was proposed.
