Conclusions
-
1.
The kinetic principles of the thermal destruction of polyethylene, inhibited by additions of KOH, and polypyrocatechol borate (PCB) were investigated.
-
2.
The two inhibitors are close in effectiveness and act primarily on the breakdown of side chains, without affecting the cleavage of the principal chain of the macromolecule.
-
3.
The inhibiting action of PCB on the thermal decomposition of polyethylene terephthalate is accompanied by cross-linking of the fragments of the macromolecules of the destructured polymer.
