Summary
-
1.
The structure was established of gypsoside, the gypsogenin glycoside isolated from the roots ofGypsophila pacifica.
-
2.
Arguments are advanced in favor of the existence of gypsoside in two forms-in the form of the acid and of the hemiacylal resulting from interaction between the carboxy group of the glucuronic acid residue and the aldehyde group of gypsogenin.
